Your Bridal Skincare Routine — What to Do & When

Your skin is the canvas  and the better the canvas, the more flawless the finished look. After 12 years of working with brides, one of the biggest differences I see is between brides who prepared their skin in advance and those who didn’t. Here’s exactly what I recommend:

6 Months Before Your Wedding

  • Book a dermatologist consultation if you have any skin concerns acne, pigmentation, uneven texture or dryness. Give treatments time to work properly
  • Start a consistent daily skincare routine and stick to it — consistency is everything
  • Drink more water daily and improve your diet. What you eat genuinely shows on your skin
  • Use SPF every single day, even in winter sun damage causes dullness and uneven tone over time

Your daily routine at this stage:

Cleanser → Toner → Serum (targeted to your skin concern) → Moisturiser → SPF (morning) / Sleeping mask or night cream (evening)

3 Months Before Your Wedding

  • If you want to try any new facials or treatments, now is the time not the week before
  • Consider regular hydra facials to deeply hydrate and brighten the skin
  • Begin using an eye cream morning and night the under-eye area needs consistent care to look smooth under makeup
  • Keep your lips moisturised with lip balm or Vaseline daily — soft lips hold lip colour beautifully
  • Avoid heavily spicy or oily foods where possible as these can trigger breakouts

1–2 Weeks Before Your Wedding

  • Do a gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin and create a smooth canvas use a mild exfoliator suited to your skin type
  • Apply a hydrating sheet mask 2–3 days before the wedding for a plump, glowing base
  • Continue moisturising consistently morning and night
  • Do NOT try any new skincare products, facials or treatments at this stage never experiment close to your wedding day
  • Do NOT get facial waxing or threading the day before your booking always allow at least 3–5 days for redness to settle

The Night Before Your Wedding

  • Double cleanse to remove all makeup and residue
  • Apply your usual serum and a rich, nourishing moisturiser
  • Apply a generous layer of lip balm or Vaseline to the lips overnight
  • Apply eye cream to the under-eye area
  • Get to bed at a reasonable time rest is one of the best things you can do for your skin and eyes

The Morning of Your Wedding — Before Kajol Arrives

  • Cleanse your face gently and apply your usual lightweight moisturiser
  • Do NOT apply heavy oils, thick serums or SPF immediately before the appointment these can affect how well the makeup sits and lasts
  • Do NOT apply with any makeup on
  • Your skin should be clean, hydrated and ready that’s all that’s needed

During the Appointment

  • Stay seated and still throughout  movement affects precision and symmetry
  • Limit phone use where possible  constant neck and eye movement affects the finish
  • Avoid eating or drinking during the application, particularly around the mouth area
  • Share your inspo pictures and communicate openly about what you want
  • Speak up if anything isn’t quite right — adjustments are always welcome and expected
  • Kajol will not leave until you are completely happy with your look

After the Appointment

  • Allow the makeup to settle fully before photographs  it improves significantly over the first 20–30 minutes
  • Use a straw when drinking, take big bites when eating
  • Keep a small touch-up kit nearby  lip colour, powder and setting spray
